I was first introduced to Orchids in the mid 1990’s when I was working and living in the South West Pacific – Orchids of many varieties naturally filled my garden then but until recently, many countries later, I have not had the opportunity to consider them. Now, approaching 75 and with retirement in sight in the next few months, I have the opportunity and determination.
As a New Year resolution I decided to start my Orchid collection and cast around my contacts for recommendations; Elite Orchids were universally recommended.
In February 2026 I purchased a Paphiopedilum from Elite – it arrived perfectly packaged and, to my surprise, in flower.
Since then I have purchased many Orchids from Elite – and, in fact, another two today. They are mainly Orchids within my comfort zone of competence but I am becoming braver so looking at Orchids that will challenge me, especially in purchasing very young plants and those that are unfamiliar to me.
Every plant purchased has arrived carefully packaged and, importantly, healthy.
My only issue with Elite is that I cannot acquire my all time favourite – Vanda!
