Phragmipedium caudatum
Native to Mexico, Guatemala, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela.
It blooms from winter through summer with long lasting, simultaneously opening flowers on a 2′ [60 cm] long, 3 to 6 flowered, racemose inflorecence, that is just longer than the leaves and has a large leafy basal bract and several prominent tubular bracts.
On average this orchid will produce 2 foot long petals, but we have also seen larger plants get to 3 feet.
